Mark Duda

Mark manages the company’s relationships with its energy finance partners, and is a leading voice in state and federal energy issues. In addition to leading DEP’s business strategy during explosive growth, Mark’s experience spans strategy development at a solar installation company, independent consulting focused on housing and mortgage market issues, and research analysis at Harvard University’s Joint Center for Housing Studies. Mark is also active in the State of Hawaii’s plans to harness renewable energy as President of the Hawai`i Solar Energy Association, leading the organization’s legislative agenda and regulatory activities. In these volunteer roles he works to expand the supply of renewable energy in Hawaii.
Mark was named "20 for the Next 20" by Hawaii Business, Cleantech Entrepreneur of the Year for 2009 by the Hawaii Venture Capital Association, a Pacific Business News “40 under 40,” and shared the 2010 Governor of Hawaii’s Individual Innovation Award with DEP co-founder Todd Georgopapadakos.
Todd Georgopapadakos

Todd manages DEP’s business development activities, and has more than twenty years of experience in Hawaii’s construction and technology industries, working as project manager in large-scale public works projects for the State of Hawaii, the City and County of Honolulu, and various branches of the US Military. Todd leads DEP’s strategic growth planning, which has propelled the company from zero to $30 million in revenue in just 18 months. Todd is also the founder of Chromaco, Inc., a digital image management and demand-based printing service that pioneered a proprietary scanning and color management system. Todd shared the 2010 Governor of Hawaii’s Individual Innovation Award with DEP co-founder Mark Duda.
Josh Powell
Partner
Josh manages construction operations, overseeing more than 4 MW of photovoltaic projects currently under construction or in design. He is a licensed Architect and a General Contractor (ABC 30243) and has executed over 8MW of PV installations in Hawaii since 2008. Prior to DEP, Josh served as Vice President of Construction Operations for what was then the state’s largest locally-owned renewable energy firm, managing all construction operations and logistics. Josh has also successfully developed and sold high-end custom homes, launched and operated a design and construction consultancy focused on military privatization projects, served as a construction manager for Actus Lend Lease, and served as a Naval Officer in the Civil Engineer Corps. In the last two decades, Josh has been involved in the direct design, procurement and execution of more than $400 million in construction on over 200 projects.
Eric Carlson
Partner
Eric Carlson works closely with commercial clients, providing extensive knowledge and experience, while guiding clients through the entire financing, design and installation process. In addition, Eric also leads the company’s community relations efforts for Hawaii. Prior experience includes:
- Project consultant for Hawaii’s largest solar design/build energy firm, earning the distinction as the top producing commercial sales agent in 2008
- More than a decade of experience in the Hawaii construction industry as a journeyman carpenter, and then as a Senior Project Manager and Estimator in the commercial sector.
- Active member in various local building and environmental organizations.
Rod Braunthal
Partner
Rod Braunthal is a partner at DEP, and brings over 10 years of management experience and 20 years in the construction design industry. Rod directs the design and development of custom energy systems for our commercial clients, as well as overseeing the entire documentation and permitting process required for installation. Previously, Rod was the Design Manager for Suntech Hawaii, coordinating and managing construction documentation with consulting engineers. Rod has also served in various executive level capacities in both the high-tech and construction design sectors. He also holds a number of photovoltaic design certifications and is active in a number of industry organizations.
Colin Yost
Partner
Colin is responsible for DEP’s legal affairs, franchise development and commercial financing initiatives. Since 1992, Colin has worked to promote sustainable development and environmental stewardship in the United States and Western Europe. As an Assistant Attorney General with the Oregon Department of Justice, Colin led the State of Oregon's investigation and prosecution of energy companies, including Enron, Duke Energy and the Williams Energy Companies, for matters relating to the west coast electricity crisis of 2000-2001 and secured settlement agreements worth $32M to the State of Oregon. Colin later co-founded the law firm of Cruise & Yost in Honolulu and advised clients on energy and business development matters while also providing civil litigation services in environmental, consumer and civil rights matters.
